The Suffolk Punch horse is now a rare breed and takes its name from the county of Suffolk and the name ‘Punch’ from its solid appearance and strength. It is a heavy draught horse which is distinctively chestnut in colour. I thoroughly enjoyed painting this picture and wanted to capture the kindness and patience of the horse and as I built up the layers this began to show through, I was really pleased with the end result.
